Beauty of IMPERFECTION

Beauty of IMPERFECTION

We try to achieve perfection in everything but is imperfection such a bad thing. Wont everything be too boring and monotonous if all we had was perfect order. Also, what’s perfect anyway?

I feel its important to evaluate the reason for pursuing perfection in any scenario. If you genuinely care about the end product and want it to look or feel a certain way or serve a particular purpose then probably the pursuit for perfection is quite fruitful. In these situations, pursuing perfection can bring out your hidden talents, skills, desires and thus even a better end result. It actually instigates a passionate zeal and is quite invigorating,

However, a lot of times we pursue perfection out of people pleasing or imposter syndrome. We can be scared of unhealthy or harsh criticism by people and therefore we just keep on perfecting to people’s perceived standards. Or we might not feel good enough ourself and we try to bring perfection in our efforts and end result endlessly because nothing feels good enough or worthy of anyone’s attention. The pursuit of perfection is quite tiring and rather discouraging.

Hence, I feel it’s essential to be conscious of our reasons for putting efforts in pursuing perfection because that’s the thing that will determine whether you feel good, whether the end product will be something that really adds any value to you or not. I understand that there are situations where we may not want to do something but its important to someone and hence you got to do it. In that situation its important to consider if that much perfection is really needed. A cost benefit analysis between the efforts and the perceived gains can be quite enlightening.
