Desires: forbidden fruit

Desires: forbidden fruit

There is so much shame and stigma attached to having any desire whether that’s desire for money, power, food, material possessions, almost like it’s a sin to have these desires. Desire to work hard and success for desire for spiritual elevation are CONSIDERED acceptable by the society.

While these desires are so forbidden, almost all of us have some or all of these desires. Shaming these desires as a BAD thing is simply keeping all of us in a delusion where we so afraid to accept and express out true desires. That explains why most of us have no idea what is our passion in life, We have literally been asked to shun our likings and rather follow things that are hard and painful and tough. So, that’s what we have done with our lives, made our lives hard and passionless. That I feel is the major cause of unhappiness in the world.

Even if we don’t have the things that we feel need to be happy, if we are following our passion none of that seems to matter. People lost in their passion seem to care for the worldly attachments because the pursuit of their passions ignites them to continuous action.

Following our truest and deepest desires seems almost like a spiritual responsibility. I feel, the main purpose of life is expansion of Consciousness through experiences of its fragments (us). That expansion happens when we follow our deepest heartfelt soul felt desires relentlessly. That’s when the greatest people in human history have come up with extraordinary innovations, discoveries, theories, knowledge. Anything new is born really of that quest

The problem arises when in the pursuit of our desires we forget to be human or shun our worldly responsibilities entirely throwing caution to the wind. People are so scared of anyone going uncontrollable that we all have been taught to love these controlled existences where everything goes on a pre-determined fashion and no one is living even near to their full potential.

Rather than controlling the largeness of life, focus should be on instilling a better DISCERNING power and self-control. Its crucial to learn the ability to differentiate between what’s just societal perceived notions of right and wrong vs what can actually be hurtful or harmful for anyone.

Then we can follow our true desires with passion and intensity because we would know where to draw the line.
